Some Advice...

Sorry for the long wait for another post. My life had been temporarily turned upside down. I was moving, then I wasn't, then I was, then I wasn't, then I was and finally I am not. After that roller coaster I needed to take a little time to regroup.

Then something else happened. After talking to one of my dear friends, I think I won't put any more of the novel online (maybe). I have definitely written more, but I haven't done anything because I have been going back and forth as to what to do. She says not to do it. That I should try to send it in instead. I am not totally in agreement with her. The chances of getting anything published are so slim, and my intention with this was to get some experience, some feedback and hopefully some support.....I am not sure what to do.

More tomorrow!

  1. Hi, my name is Rachel. I just happened upon your blog. I'm also a writer.

Have you listened to Mur Lafferty's podcast called, "I Should Be Writing?" It's interesting because she discusses things like, should I post my stuff on the internet? She also discusses how some podcasters read their novel chapter by chapter on their podcast to build a following. And by proving to an agent that they already have a following were then able to get an agent.

It's interesting because the publishing world is changing. Submitting queries doesn't seem to meet much success unless you know people. (One reason I'm getting my Master's is basically to make contacts.) Sorry for the rambling comment, I have too many thoughts in my head right now to write a coherent sentence it seems.

Anyway, feel free to email me! I'm always on the lookout to make more writer friends! Here's my blog: http://rcgooch.tumblr.com/ (which is really just about stuff I like, not just about writing), and you can email me at rcgooch at gmail dot com. :)
